first subtract 0.1x from both sides and add 5 to both sides to get your variables together and constants together.

0.6x-0.1x=7+5

now simplify both sides

0.5x=12

Divide both sides by 0.5 to get the variable by itself

x=12/0.5

simplify

x=24
